Nicholas Nieves
Nicholas Nieves is a storyteller that blends his unique style of writing with comedic acting to entertain the masses. You can see Nicholas bring humor every week at The Magnet Theater (Musical Megawatt) and The Broadway Comedy Club (8Improv). Originally from Western New York, Nicholas studied Theatre Arts at SUNY Fredonia before making his way to New York City to pursue his career and bring his style of expression to the industry. He worked hard to cultivate his skills while attending classes at the Magnet Theatre under the tutelage of Michael Lutton, Annie Moor, and Frank Spitznagel. Nicholas has experience in video production/editing. He spends his days writing, honing his craft, and making lasting connections in the industry to bring original stories and fresh content to life. He is an experienced Dungeon Master, using the world of dungeons and dragons to expand his creativity, and is currently using those skills helping to create the new DnD podcast, Bad Guys & B-Sides. He also is one half of the comedy duo that brings the podcast Now Try This every week. When not performing you can ask Nicholas about the chess lessons he is teaching all over the city, or how he hosts events at Unarthodox. He credits the film Fiddler on the Roof for igniting his passion for acting.
Ilan Kaplan
Ilan is an actor and improviser of Argentine descent based in New York City, with a BA in English from Cornell University and an MFA in Acting from the Actors Studio Drama School. He has performed improv and musical improv comedy on stages across New York and New Jersey, including his weekly show at the Magnet Theater and at theater festivals at the American Theater for Actors and the 13th Street Repertory Theater.Ilan moved to NYC five years ago, where he fell in love with the improv scene, training at UCB, the Magnet, with North Coast, and with hip hop improv legends Freestyle Love Supreme. When the pandemic hit, Ilan decided to put his training and undergrad Shakespeare concentration to use, and founded the Digital Shakespeare Company, where he produced, designed, and directed online productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth. When the city opened up again, he pivoted his company from digital to Shakespeare After Dark, and produced, directed, and performed in Much Ado About Nothin’ at the Improv Asylum, NYC. Ilan is drawn equally to classical theater and comedy. Some of his favorite roles were Uncle Vanya in Uncle Vanya (ASDS), Lady Macbeth in an all drag production of Macbeth (Cornell Shakespeare Troupe), and Chuck in a virtual production of She Kills Monsters (Bluebird Theater Company).
Genevieve Joers
A Seattle native and New Yorker by way of Columbia University, Genevieve has performed in musicals, cabarets, sketch comedy, a cappella, devised work, improv, and stand-up comedy on stages across NYC including Lincoln Center, 54 Below, The Stonewall Inn, Broadway Comedy Club, the PIT, Sony Hall and Off-Broadway at The Player’s Theatre. She has also worked behind the scenes with internships at Late Night with Seth Meyers and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Genevieve loves frolicking outside, crafting, and making pasta for her friends.
