Improv shows & workshops are amazing stress relief as well as invaluable training in Creativity (Writing and Thinking), Community (team, respect, listening, focus) and Leadership (Public Speaking, Self Confidence and Self Respect). K-12 schools tie-in our programs to cultural arts (theater and music), Language Arts (Story Telling, Oral Communications, Creative Writing) and Character Building (Leadership, Anti Bully, Community Building). The cast(s) have performed over 600 shows for K-12 schools and camps in the past year alone while presenting classes, workshops and residencies for 1000s of students at the Times Square theater and touring nationwide.
COMEDY CLASSES
SPRING SESSION for Kids, Teens and Adults starts April 11. Students get 8-10 classes for $200 (JUST $145 CLICK HERE) as well as unlimited free admission to shows.
“A production you and your children don’t want to miss!” – ABC NEWS
Hilarious interactive musical comedy based on audience suggestions and participation. Imagine WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY (TM) with a touch of MTV and Broadway. This show is not exactly the same show that we do at K-12 schools. The public shows that are friendly to all ages run more PG to PG-13. No cursing. No vulgarity. But definitely more adult friendly than our shows for schools and camps. Some teens will prefer our 8pm shows (Every Saturday as well) simply because there are no K-5 students in the audience, but the shows are equally great theatrically!
WHERE
Broadway Comedy Club
318 West 53rd Street
New York, NY 10019
PARKING / TRANSPORTATION
Some street parking avail but be careful in midtown with tickets. However they have recently increased the number of 1 and 2 hour metered spots in the neighborhood. Across the street form the club, on the right side of 53rd (heading west towards 9th ave) is a garage that is relatively cheaper than those closer to Broadway. Also many lots and garages 1-2 blocks west are further inexpensive.
Of course when in doubt subway is the best. We are short walk from all Times Square & Columbus Circle Subways. 5 minute walk from Port Authority. 10-15 from Penn Station. 8th Ave bus stops at the corner as well.
CITY BIKE – There is a station at 52nd and 8th Ave. Drop off you bike, hit Starbucks and head on over to the show.
DINING
We are surrounded by amazing restaurants and cafes in just 1-2 block radius.
For some finer dining try Da Tommaso – Fine Italian, White Tuxedos and fresh food with all linen service but not horribly expensive considering the neighborhood average. Great Pasta and Seafood. 903 8th Ave, New York, NY 10019 (53/54) Reservations (212) 265-1890
NEW CASUAL / QUICK SERVICE
Our cast is in love with MELT SHOP – Gourmet Grilled Cheese, Tater Tots and Fountain Root Beer (plus 1000s of other Coke Soda dispenser options) make this a throw back to the classic with some very cool variations. 877 8th Ave (52/53)
Of course PICK A BAGEL right on the corner of 53rd & 8th offers sandwiches, salads and bakery items with great coffee. We use their gourmet catering for many of our corporate lunches and high end family events. 891 Eighth Ave, (212) 582-8333
Of course we are a short walk form all of the famous tourist traps of Times Square as well LOL But take a tip from the locals – 9th 7 10th avenue offer many amazing international flavors for all tastes and budgets at a fraction of the cost of the typical fare for the out of town theater goers. Explore Hells Kitchen bar and restaurant scene and come hang out with the artists.
