CLASSES

Check menu links for upcoming classes. If you are looking to learn Improv, Stand-Up and/or Sketch Comedy we have classes online and in person. EMAIL us questions about classes.

AUDITIONS/JAM SESSIONS/INTERNSHIPS for INDIVIDUALS

Are you already trained and/or somewhat experienced in Improv? Are you looking to join a team? Are you looking to join a jam session? Would you like to maybe intern with our professional company? EMAIL us your name, headshot, resume and a short cover letter for what you are looking for. We are forming new sessions and audition new talent regularly.

New York Improv Theater does not believe in making you spend $1000s just to perform on our stages for free, especially if you have already paid a small fortune for college training etc. We are always looking for new players to fill our spots on gigs and showcases that at least pay a stipend. We also have jam sessions you can drop by for a tiny fee just to play (Just enough to cover the space fees) or some times free with a one drink minimum to hang out. (Soda, Juice, etc. available).

Internships are a great way for us to get to know you, rehearse and perhaps even perform with professionals. Interns get free access to all classes. Perfect for a recent college theater grad looking to make some connections and get on stage.

INDY TEAM SHOWCASES

Ready to get back on a live stage? We have stage time for you. EMAIL us a short cover letter, photo, links, a bridged performance history etc.

Join us weekly, monthly, one offs, etc. Right now it’s first come first serve and we expect to fill up fast.

No Fee, No Pay. Drink specials for artists but no minimums. Get your team/act listed on this website with links and bios for your artists.

Current Time Slots: Tuesday Nights 6:15, 8, 10pm, Sundays 6pm.

Most shows $5 plus one drink minimum for guest.

BEGINNERS PRODUCER PACKAGE

Perfect for indy/house teams looking to make that jump to producing your own shows.

NO FEE- NO PAY- NO HASSLE

We provide ticketing, tech/house manager, web marketing, etc.

You focus on creating a great show and building a following for you act. Produce an indy show, book your team plus 1-3 others to fill a 60-75 minute spot. Produce a variety show. So many options. We only have a limited number of these spots but we are looking to train a special few on how to produce. If you have never produced before, this is a great chance to start.

EXPERIENCED PRODUCER PACKAGE

Get the room 100% for free. Set up your own ticketing. NO RENT, the clubs sells drinks to cover their costs. This is a bare bones package. you supply our own tech, house manager as needed. The club turns on the lights and sound. Off-Off Broadway producing can be potentially financially rewarding for a team, if not a chance at total artistic freedom and control over your time and space.

NEED MORE SPACE?

Do you have a large following and potentially need more than 70 seats. If you can fill it, the Broadway Comedy Club main stage is available. WARNING: this room has professional stand-up comedy 9pm nightly. This 140-seat room has higher expectations to fill. BUT if you have the following (TICKET SALES) OR a private event that needs space, it’s a fun room. We have been producing in this room since 2004 – college groups, corporate events, and even k12 outreach.
