EIGHT IS NEVER ENOUGH made its debut on Restaurant Row in December of 2002. By 2003 the troupe was performing it’s first paid gigs and bouncing around NYC theaters, clubs and it’s first K12 schools, giving birth to Improv 4 Kids. LMAO OFF BROADWAY was born in 2009, as the troupe officially moved off-Broadway, looking for a more recognizable show title for TKTS. 2020 drove the troupe online, like the rest of the world.
NewYorkImprovTheater.com was created a few years back as the scope of the troupe’s activities spread more and more into educational and mentoring up and coming talent. There needed to be a separation from the professional cast, for client’s clarification and an umbrella for all to feel part of something bigger.
While quarantine life somewhat stalled those plans on a grand scale, they have been brewing behind the scenes, in zoom classrooms, and new classes and jam sessions.
Now more than ever, with so many big improv schools folding, the New York Improv Theater model is needed in NYC.
While our focus is off-Broadway quality entertainment for our signature show, touring and corporate clients, we welcome new teams and players to come play. We have stage time for teams and jam sessions for individuals. We want to help form new teams.
Out come back from quarantine was stalled the past 6 weeks, thanks to recent spikes, but the determination is real.
AND we do not make folks spend $2000+ in classes to play. Our jam sessions and classes are far less expensive AND we can create jam sessions that lol more like Open Mics for stand up comedy.
Reach out. Check out our shows and classes. Come play. Let’s build something great!
