Join us online for Walt Frasier’s Stand-Up Comedy Class. Our #1 rule is to HAVE FUN but never at another’s expense. We have a growing community of artists with professional aspirations but also self enrichment. Stand Up Comedy is a powerful tool in develop social and presentation skills. Conquering fears of sharing stories on or off stage translates I to every corner of life, at home, work and out and about. A Comedy class is step one into getting stage time and learning to process original stories of observation and experience I to original comedy routines. Take these skills into open mics and bookings as a comic, school projects and oral presentations as a student, and in the corporate world – become a better leader, better Presenter and a sales ninja. Make sure to watch/listen to the following video and/or complete Step one, brainstorming Ideas before the first class.
Creating an original comedy routine starts with a simple brainstorm exercise. Jot down 5 to 10 ideas. Don’t Try to Be Funny or clever. What ever enters your mind as you listen / watch the video above, write down a couple words to remember that episode from your life. Never trust you will remember these thoughts. The best comedy routines in history have been lost to a lazy comic that did not write it down when they had the funny thought.
At class or your first open mic, simple share the list OR start sharing 1 story at a time. Record your 5 minute set EVERY time.
In class you will get feedback, but on your own, review your work. As soon as you get off stage, jot down initials thoughts and feelings. Then go back and watch the vid. Objectively evaluate your work. Then go on to step TWO before your 2nd class / open mic.
Wash Rinse & Repeat
Never try to be funny or great. Every time you get onstage, the goal is to be a little bit better than yesterday. Repeat successes, learn from mistakes and misters and make small adjustments as you go.
