Stop boring us talking about stuff. Stop “TRYING” to be funny or clever. Great improv comes from making simple choices and then playing those choices.

This 2 hour master class will focus on playing games that help establish a strong sense of WHO you are on stage.

You know how old you are, your height, the clothes you wear. The items in your pocket. The things you carry. You know your favorite foods, fun activities, people. You know yiur least faves.

As an actor, we read a script and fill in the blanks with these choices. We often write a 2-50+ biography about our characters. We start to live and breathe our characters. Often we start to dream in character.

In Improv we can create backstories for our characters one choice at a time. We can think in first person (we, I, me, us, etc) as our character. These choices both serve to ground us as actors in a scene AND to block out the negativity voices. The more we focus on our characters the less ego and insecurity yank us out of focus.

More importantly, the more we become another character, the more our scenes have deeper meaning than a few jokes. We create great theater. Jokes may or may not land, BUT our scenes will be entertaining and engaging.
