Bring these programs to your community! We send teaching artists to schools, community centers and even private homes almost daily, DC to Boston and beyond, for shows, workshops, residencies and professional development programming!
Three times now, our students perofrmed in a national competition, with finals held at Caroline’s on Broadway. Judah took 2nd Place at the annual competition, in 2018, the first year our kids participated.
In 2019, nine of oir students held the top 20 spots at rhe national finals. 12yo Carolyn was named “funniest kid in America. ” Carolyn is now a screenwriting major at USC and a summer camp counselor, often appearing with the professional company.
Myra was a major contender in 2019 at Caroline’s on Broadway. In 2020 she filmed THE QUEST for Disney+. Myra now works with us, often leading residencies at various Brooklyn programs
There was no competition im 2020 or 2021. But we came back swinging in 2022. Saloni is possibly lost to the corproate world, but this young genius still drops by to play from time to time.
And, of course, if you are not following Sway’s Career…. In 2019, Sway was unavailable to do the shows at Caroline’s on Broadway as she just booked a MAJOR LEAD in MIGHTY DUCKS, THE SERIES, for 2 seasons on Disney+. She hasn’t stopped working since…
TYPICAL WEEK OF CAMP
Monday thru Thursday
- 8:45am drop offs. One of our counselors is on hand to greet early campers so parents can get to work.
- 9:15am Morning Improv Jam: we play a series of games (every warm up, skit and somg in Improv is called a game). Every session includes warm ups/ice breakers, technique builders and at least one, usually a few, performance games. We run “classes” more like rehearsals for a show. More play, less lecture.
- 11:45 LUNCH BREAK
- 12:30 Stand Up / Sketch Comedy – Our open mic style sessions teach students to craft original comedy routines from personal experience and observation.
- 2pm Afternoon Jam
- 3pm Fun time – Campers LOVE playing Mafia, Werewolf and other sorts of games. The TEENterns (our CITS) run the games with mild supervision.
- 4pm End of Day. Let us know if you need later pick ups.
Fridays – Show day!
Eveey Friday, the focus is putting on a show. The morning starts with a warm up, mock show and notes. At 2pm we invite the parents, friends and family for a comedy show hosted by our older teens, performed by all campers.
Artistic Director Walt Frasier
With over 30 years of experience in theater, comedy, and television, Walt Frasier is the Artistic Director of Improv Theater LLC, a leading edutainment center known for its high-impact comedy shows and workshops. His extensive career includes performing comedy sketches on MTV’s Stankervision, Late Nite with David Letterman, TruTV’s Friends of the People, and HBO’s Pause with Sam Jay. As an actor, Walt has appeared on NBC’s Blacklist, CBS’s Blue Bloods, USA’s Royal Pains, Netflix’s Lilyhammer, and NICK’s Naked Brothers Band, in addition to numerous commercials, industrials, and live performances worldwide.
