This long Island native is an active member in our new division offering shows and classes east of New York City.

Steven wrote this 3 years ago – “I’ve wanted to be a comedian since I was eight years old.  I started out taking local acting classes but what I really wanted was comedy.  When I was twelve my parents discovered Kids N Comedy at the Gotham Comedy Club.  That is where I took my first comedy class.  Once I got a taste of being on stage, I was hooked.  Since then, I have attended numerous comedy classes and workshops to include Comedy College with Governor’s Comedy Club, ATNY, The Performing Option, UCB and Improv 4 Kids.  I have been with Improv 4 Kids since I was 13 and I have learned so much in the last three years.  Improv is my favorite thing as it is quick thinking and challenging fun.  My goal is to one day be a Saturday Night Live cast member, so improv and sketch comedy is the way I want to go.  I enjoy making up characters and the voices that go along with them.  Improv 4 Kids has given me opportunities to be on stage doing what I love in an environment where I feel secure with a team that supports me no matter what.”

****NEW Improv Class – Happy Hour After Work for 21 & older

I almost hate to call this a class. It will be very educational, but so much fun, you will barely realize how much your learning while playing, networking, and consuming beverages and light snacks.

QUICK LINK for DISCOUNT REGISTRATION

8sidebar-corporatehappyhour

  • via link JUST $25pp (reg $40) includes 2 hour session plus 1st round from bar (beer, wine soft drinks) and light snacks. NO ADDITIONAL PURCHASE REQUIRED. Additional beverages available at happy hour rates. You can also pre-register for 4 classes at just $80pp.
  • Broadway Comedy Club
318 West 53rd Street, New York, NY 10019
  • Between 8th & 9th Avenues, close to Times Square and Columbus Circle
  • NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – great for artists and professionals from all career paths.
  • MUST BE 21 or older to attend.

We are combining after work happy hour networking with Improv. Come alone, bring friends from the office, but either way this is going to be fun!

This is partly an offshoot of a new program we are running for corporate teams.

We have run huge events for Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Louis Vuitton and Dozens of others.

We have had smaller lunch programs for Twitter marketing teams and smaller / local firms.

We have sent shows nationwide for holiday parties and team building for Home Depot, GM, Kraft etc etc etc

But last year we created the HAPPY HOUR Team Building. Turns out professionals form all walks of life LOVE to improv with a beer in hand, or near by on a table. Pictures on this post are from October 2016 event for Ernst & Young. Since that date, and its success, many companies are signing up. One the program is a lot more cost effective. Instead of huge buffets of food (with tons of waste) and open bars, we have just enough snacks and 2 drink tickets. No one leaves drunk, but all loosen up, nosh and have a great time playing Improv Games.

So the new HAPPY HOUR Comedy Class program, Mondays at 5pm (5:30 class but the bar opens at 5pm and we will have some snacks too) is for performers and professionals from any field looking to play, network, snack, drink etc etc etc.

$40/ session
$125/ 4 weeks
$225/ 8 weeks

Kevin Bartini

“Intelligently silly!” – BlogTalkRadio

Comedy Fans the world over have taken notice of Kevin Bartini’s cutting edge, quick witted biting sense of humor. Kevin’s act is an ever changing mix of personal and often embarrassing stories, political humor, observational humor and improvisation. After ten years honing his skills in New York City, Kevin has become one of the brightest new stars on the comedy landscape.

Kevin’s easygoing likeable persona combined with lightning fast improvisational skills make him one of the most sought after audience warm up comics in the television industry. Currently Kevin can be seen warming up the audience at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. He has also worked for two seasons as an audience warm-up comic for Who Wants To Be a Millionaire.

Movie fans and comedy fans may best know Kevin as the creator and star of The Movie Preview Review Podcast. On each episode Kevin reviews a new release after having only seen the movie’s previews. The MPR Podcast has become a viral sensation attracting a worldwide fan base. Kevin has also appeared on television on Discovery Channels Cash Cab, The Game Show Network’s Newlywed Game and NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

Kevin got his start in theater working with the likes of The Williamstown Theater Company, Barrington Stage Company and Shakespeare and Company. He garnered rave reviews starring in the national tour as Jeff Kahn in You Say Tomato I Say Shut Up.

Besides being a very popular comedian Kevin is a sought after comedy writing. HBO Sports hired Kevin to write a sports themed sketch series titled Got No Game. This popular multi episode series was a hit on HBO Sports’ web page and eventually on HBO’s main web page as well. He has also contributed to such varied programs as MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Fox News’ Red Eye and Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham. Kevin’s comedy writing has been featured numerous times on top radio programs including The Bob and Tom Show, Comical Radio, and On-Air with Ryan Seacrest.

Dustin Chafin

Born in a doublewide trailer in Kilgore, Texas; son of a used-car salesman and a beautiful and wild hippy child; grandson of Choctaw Native Americans: Dustin Chafin is both Cowboy and Indian.

Dustin set foot in the boxing ring at the young age of five. Full of fight and fury, he quickly won golden gloves. As a young man, Dustin’s path took a turn towards the spiritual, and led him to the mountains of Chile where he worked as a missionary for many years. After developing a love and deep appreciation for people and their experiences, Dustin followed his calling from the Chilean forests to the tall buildings and crazy streets of New York City. There he found his true passion, culminating his experience of peoples and their voices and the fight of the ring: stand-up.

Since Chafin first grasped the microphone, he has been very busy. He has been featured in the New York Underground Comedy Festival, where he was honored by The Bill Hicks Tribute show at the Laugh Factory. Dustin has also been featured in the Chicago and Las Vegas comedy festivals where he won “Best of Fest.” He headlines regularly at premiere New York City venues such as Caroline’s on Broadway, Comic Strip Live, Broadway Comedy Club and Standup NY. He is the creator of “Uncensored Comedy,” a critically acclaimed show that runs weekends in New York City and a nationwide tour. Chafin has toured with the USO to perform in Korea, Japan, Africa, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. He has been a staff writer for the Sci-Fi Channel, and contributing writer for The Chris Rock Show, Dennis Miller Live, Chappelle’s Show, and Blue Collar TV. Dustin is a regular on Sirius and XM Satellite Radio—he has been featured on Jim Breuer Unleashed, One Hour special Southern Discomfort on Raw Dog on Sirius, Court TV Radio, Blue Collar Radio and Howard Stern radio, Howard Demand and on National Lampoon TV on Demand. He was also featured on ABC’s special coverage of the New York Comedy Festival. Dustin brought down the house on Showtime’s White Boyz in the Hood. Dustin is also a writer, producer for United Stations Radio their comedy segments reach over a hundred radio affiliates across the U.S and Canada.

Costaki Economopoulos

For 20 years Costaki has been living his dream as a full-time stand up comic. He has written jokes for Bette Middler, Jay Leno, MTV and BET. You may have seen him on Showtime, or heard him on Sirius, but you probably know him best from his regular appearances on the nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Radio Show.

Teddy Smith

Comedian Teddy Smith started his comedy career from a dream he had. He was lost, didn’t know where to go in his career or his life. That night he asked himself, “What am I supposed to do?” That very same night he had a dream he was on stage performing in front of a sold out crowd. He knew he couldn’t sing, but he could make people laugh. A week later he signed up for an open mic, and a few months later won the Washington, DC, Comedy Competition.

After two years of plugging away at it, Teddy felt it was time he set his sights on his next challenge: New York City, “The City That Never Sleeps”. Teddy learned fast that story was a falsehood. Whoever came up with that one obviously never rode the NYC subways at four in the morning, because people were sleeping all the time. Maybe they missed the meeting.

Teddy Smith took his talents to the world famous Apollo Theatre and got a standing ovation. That lead to a big gig at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City opening for the Isley Brothers and Teddy Pendergrass. Then he traveled overseas to do a television show called the Comedy Factor and a month tour in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Teddy has done the famous Aspen Comedy Festival were he was named among the “Comics to Look Out For in the Future”. Teddy tours all up and down the east coast, headlining the Paramount Theater in Huntington Long Island, Theater Three in Port Jefferson, The Smithtown Performing Art Theater. He appeared in the movie Umbrellas Kill, and has appeared on Live At Gotham, Comedy Central, Comic View, Showtime, Jay Leno’s Tonight Show Website, The Gordon Elliot Show with Jackie Mason. Teddy covers topics from divorce, family, kids, race and social issues.
Teddy Smith currently lives in New York City.

How To Play Milk Caps / POGS Fads of the 1990s

How To Play Milk Caps

The Professional Organization Of Poggz is a true believer in the Head-To-Head match-up style of playing milk caps for tournament competition.

POG Milk Cap and Slammers Game POGS Milkcap Assortment – 206 Pc

WANT TO REALLY NO MORE about POGS, MILKCAPS etc?
Go to http://www.milkcapmania.co.uk/ the most active site I can find on the web about the game, collectibles etc

STEP 1 – Choose Playing Surface.
Game works best on a smooth hard surface. Place the official Professional Organization Of Poggz playing mat to protect your slammers from chipping. If you are lacking a P.O.O.P. mat, a piece of card board will do. Many will use a school book.

STEP 2 – Stack Ten Caps face down.
Many purists of the sport say stack face up but we want to preserve the amazing art work many have painstakingly put on your favorite milk caps. If not playing in a formal Professional Organization Of Poggz tournament, then each player should donate and equal number of milk caps. The exact number of milk caps in the stack may vary but TEN is the official number used by Professional Organization Of Poggz in a set. A match is won when one player wins three sets.

STEP 3 – Decide which player will go first.
The official Professional Organization Of Poggz method is to toss a coin. For the most fair results players will play a best three out of five tosses.

STEP 4 – Shake hands with opponent.
We here at the Professional Organization Of Poggz are big believers in sportsmanship.

STEP 5 – First Slam
Player One throws down slammer at the stack of milk caps. If the slam misses the stack, the slam still counts as a turn and the player gets a zero. If the slam hits the stack, and milk caps turned face up (Or face down for you purists out there, but then again you already know how to play, don’t you…) that player collects all of the winning caps.

STEP 6 –  Restack for Player Two
Player Two slams the stack. Score pints for each milk cap collected.

STEP 7 – Repeat
Continue to alternate turns until a player has six milk caps in his / her possession. That player WINS the Set.

WARNING – NO GAMBLING
It is the official P.O.O.P. position that no milk cap player should ever engage in gambling. When not playing an official organized tournament, Players should keep any milk caps donated to the playing of the game. Gambling is illegal in most states and is inappropriate on the grounds of any educational setting. The popular fad in the 1990s was killed when schools banned milk caps because students were keeping any caps won and this was considered a form of Gambling.Gambling in any form is to be left to your creepy uncle that hangs out at casinos and/or the tracks.

A SHORT HISTORY OF POGS – POOP THE MOVIE 400 years in the making

Milk Cap History

POGS have played an important, yet sometimes overlooked, part of world history…

POOP THE MOVIE on Twitter https://twitter.com/PoopTheFilm

– 1600-1800 Roughly 600 years ago Japanese Fisherman created a game called Menko. The game was made popular by the Shoguns of the Edo Period. Some claim Menko may have been considered a national sport.

POG Milk Cap and Slammers Game POGS Milkcap Assortment – 206 Pc

– 1927 Haleakala Dairy on Maui, Hawaii buys company producing a drink made from Passion Fruit, Orange and Guava Juice.

– 1930s Workers at Haleakala Ranch, including many immigrants from Japan, play a new version of Menko. But it was the children that took elements of Menko and created their own game, at the time called “Milk Covas”

– 1990 Theodore Milles sees his Son, Bobby, playing with Milk Caps and gets idea to create the Professional Organization Of Pogs as a way to reconnect with his alienated family. The 1st National P.O.O.P. Championship Competition is played and won, shockingly by Bobby Milles.

– 1991 Hawaiian Teacher, Blossom Galbiso, (AKA MOTHER OF POGS) tells students of the game she played as a child. This is officially the start of the international craze. In the early months a number of Hawaiian Companies produced Milk Caps with amazing art work. Many schools made and sold Milk Caps as fundraisers.

– 1993 Alan Rypinski (most famous as the marketing genius behind ArmorAll) trademarks the name, “POG”, and the popular character, “POGMAN” (Basically cross between Caveman and a Surfer Dude), and creates World POG Federation. The company quickly becomes the largest seller of milk caps in the world. Theodore Milles states that he never thought his son’s favorite game would become so big and regrets not trademarking the idea sooner. Do to risk of trade mark infringement and law suit, Theodore Milles changes name to Professional Organization of Poggz.
Check out these POG commercials now on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr_kkdmLf7I&NR=1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq9r50EYJh0

– 1994 Sadly, Blossom Galbiso dies of heart condition. Imperial Toy Company enters the market with the popular knock offs, Slammer Whammers. Milk Caps with the printing of favorite cartoon characters and TV shows (Batman, Star Trek, Power Rangers etc) are popular. 100s of corporations print promotional milk caps such as McDonald’s, Kool Aid, Taco Bell etc. The Red Cross produces milk caps for fundraising. Even D.A.R.E. prints Scruff McGruff, the Crime Dog.

– 1995 Rypinski gives up control of WPF to investors. Read More In the same year Slammer Whammers have their best year. Theodore Milles petitions the The International Olympic Committee to allow Milk Caps as a Demonstration Sport at the 1996 Summer games in Atlanta.

– 1996 1000s of Schools around the world ban milk cap gaming on campus, claiming they are a form of Gambling. World POG Federation stops operation (SOURCE). ALL Plans to include POGS in the 1996 summer Olympic games canceled for fear of bad press.

– 1997 Canada Games goes out of business.

– 1998 Just as Theodore Milles threatens to fold P.O.O.P., Bobby Milles, recently named Treaurer, takes over day to day operations of the Professional Organization Of Poggz.

– 2001 US Military issues Milkcaps as a form of Currency in Iraq and other operations around the world. Milk Caps are lighter than coins and more durable than paper currency.

– 2005 Funrise Toys buys the POG name and WPG resurfaces as the Global POG Association. POGS are BACK!

– 2006 Fuel Industries plans an online version of the game. READ MORE  EBAY and other online sources still the best way to boost your collections. By the end of the year Funrise stops POG production.

– 2007 For the first time in eleven years, the number of spectators out numbers the number of players in the National Championship Competition.

– 2011 SGF PRODUCTIONS, a NYC based company, is filming making documentary, “P.O.O.P.” about the milk cap phenomena and the Professional Organization of Poggz 22nd National Championship Competition.
